Dmitry Shvets, a well-known journalist and a manager of North-Western Broadcasting was killed outside his office in Murmansk on April 18. Thew police found three pistol cartridge cases on the scene.
Shvets had worked in the company for nine years. His colleagues say that the company had been receiving threats. Workers of other media outlets had been worried over the atmosphere surrounding the channel. The oblast union of journalists and heads of media outlets issued recently a joint statement denouncing threats made against local journalists.
