Well-known TV presenter Gennady Bachinsky died in road crash in the Tver Region on 12 January at 4 pm near the town of Kalyazin. He was attempting to overtake a truck when his Volkswagen Golf collided with a minibus. Three people in the bus were injured, Bachinsky died on the spot.
Born in the Altai Region of Siberia, Bachinsky studied in St Petersburg and worked for various radio stations there before moving in 2001 to Moscow where he and his colleague Sergei Stillavin ran a popular show on Russkoe Radio. In 2007 they moved to Radio Mayak and Bachinsky was made chief producer for radio broadcasting on the State Television and Radio Company.
