Farkhad Kerimov, a TV cameraman for AP, was executed on 22 May 1995 between the settlements of Shali and Vedeno, in the woods near Sayasan village, 44 km to the south of Grozny. His body was identified a few days later by his brother.

Born in Moscow in 1948, Kerimov studied in Azerbaijan. From 1987 he was a journalist for the Molodyozh Azerbaijana newspaper before starting work as a TV cameraman in 1992 and filming in Karabakh, Georgia, Tajikistan and Chechnya.

The Soldier of Fortune magazine suggests he was shot by Chechen separatists who accused him of working for the Russian security service (FSB).
