A well-known sports journalist in the Tyumen Region, Alexei Plotnikov, died on 18 November 2007 when the driver of a Kamaz truck lost control of his vehicle in poor weather conditions and crashed into a parked Daewoo Nexia. The driver and the passenger in the Daewoo were killed; the passenger was Plotnikov.
